The secret of red gold 🍂

Today we take you into the world of rooibos , a unique red decaffeinated tea that delights tea lovers all over the world. Learn about its story, benefits, and different ways to prepare it!

🌍 Where does rooibos come from?

Rooibos comes from South Africa , specifically from the Cederberg Mountains. It is a plant that only grows in this area – attempts to grow it elsewhere have not been successful.

Traditionally, rooibos leaves are hand-picked, fermented and sun-dried , giving it its characteristic red color and sweet, earthy flavor.

📜 Who discovered it? Legend has it…

It was first used by the Koi and San over 300 years ago to treat digestive problems, insomnia, and skin diseases.

In the early 20th century, Russian merchant Benjamin Ginsberg was the first to recognize its potential as an affordable alternative to black tea. Since then, it has taken the world by storm!

Today, rooibos is protected as a geographical indication product , similar to champagne.
